Since we're venturing into the grounds of adobe illustrator soon, I wanted to look into the many potentials of the program and found an awesome video of a very good Illustrator user turning a simple sketch into a professional looking cartoon character with gradients, shadows, highlights, and bright colors.

There are many tutorials for Illustrator including how to draw vintage cars, stars, cut-through vehicle diagrams etc. Everything drawn in this program comes out so bright and lively. I've always wondered how such drawings were created and watching the video below I see how its all possible. Using photoshop alone is not the way to create cartoons from scratch.
