Skyscrapers Still Reach for the Skies:
By: Matt Vella
It is something I didn't think would begin to happen for another few decades, but it is already beginning. The future of skyscrapers around the world holds for the tallest, most sturdy, widest, and stylish looking buildings ever. Only 36 buildings in the world today have reached heights of over 1000-feet. This article features tentative design work for the futuristic looking buildings due as soon as fall 2009. Most of these towers are being built in Asia (China, South Korea, etc.) The tallest being planned is the Nakheel Tower in Dubai. Its scheduled completion year is for 2020. With 1000+ stories and a total height of close to 3,300 feet, this will be the worlds highest standing skyscraper. Its design is accompanied by a very futuristic design, similar to the ones we may see in movies like Star Wars. The buildings do not appear to have corners, but are rounded on all sides with different layers, almost like a cake.
