I find that the most entertaining music videos are those which use animation, motion graphic design, or even stop action! A lot of these videos don't even show the actual band performing. OK GO used the Treadmill skit without touching a single instrument. The White stripes used stop action filming to create an entire video using legos. Bands such as Daft Punk turn their videos into cartoons and replace themselves with animated characters. Other stories are usually placed behind the music.
One video I saw that was not on this list but super creative, was the song "Memory" by Sugarcult, which used motion graphics to draw "rough sketches" that animated on a page and moved from angle to angle.
